Stem cells and exosomes are the cutting edge of regenerative medicine. Both modalities aim to restore tissue function through cellular signalling rather than pharmacological action — and both are increasingly used in joint care, aesthetic medicine, hair regrowth and longevity protocols.
What Are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are undifferentiated cells with the capacity to renew themselves and differentiate into specialised cells. In clinical aesthetic and longevity practice the most commonly used type is the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC), typically derived from adipose tissue, bone marrow or umbilical cord. MSCs release growth factors and cytokines that regulate inflammation, stimulate local progenitor cells and promote tissue repair.
What Are Exosomes?
Exosomes are nano-sized extracellular vesicles (30–150 nm) released by stem cells. They carry proteins, growth factors, mRNA and microRNA that mediate cell-to-cell communication. In effect, exosomes deliver the "signal" of a stem cell without the cell itself — a more shelf-stable, dose-controlled and lower-risk modality.
Clinical Applications
In joint care, intra-articular stem cell or exosome injections support cartilage health and may reduce pain in osteoarthritis. In aesthetic medicine, scalp injections support hair regrowth and facial mesotherapy improves skin texture and tone. In longevity, systemic exosome protocols are part of broader cellular-renewal programmes.
What to Expect
Protocols are highly individualised. Treatment may be a single session or a series spaced weeks apart; results develop over weeks as the cellular signalling triggers tissue remodelling. A detailed assessment, biomarker testing and an honest discussion of evidence levels are essential before starting.
Safety and Regulation
Stem cell and exosome products must be sourced from regulated, certified laboratories with full traceability. Patient selection, sterile technique and clinician experience determine the safety profile. We use only products that meet local regulatory standards and we discuss the evidence base transparently with every patient.
